FAQ
I wanted to buy a travel ticket from Prievidza to Bratislava, but I did not manage to enter the departure and arrival points.
The problem with the entry of your departure and arrival points might also be an older version of your Internet Explorer browser. If this is your case, you are kindly advised to download its latest version.
I tried to find a connection on the route Trnava – Vrútky or Martin. I did not succeed. And when I searched for the next service to Žilina, I was told that there was no such connection on the particular day.
Our website offers you to search for any connection on services operated by our company only. You could not find any connection to Vrútky or Martin because we do not operate any domestic services to these destinations.
We operate a service from Bratislavy to Žilina. It is a regular service no. 102509 Bratislava – Trnava - Piešťany – Žilina. Further details like departure days are available in the search section „Slovakia“. The menu will offer you available services and if interested, you can even buy a ticket right away on the internet. Any required services are also available in the subsection „Timetables“. (Available in the lower section of our website and/or in the section „Important Information“ where a side menu also offers „Timetables“.)
To what extent does Slovak Lines accept the ISIC card and what discounts can students get with it?
As per the price regulation no. 1/2008 issued by the Municipality of Bratislava, documents proving the entitlement to a discount for students up to 26 years of age also include the ISIC card. The discount can be only provided if an ISIC card issued by a competent school includes an electronically activated transport section for a particular school year and with the expiry determined by the school. Such an ISIC card can be read by ticket machines (EMTEST) in our buses and it can be also used as an electronic wallet so that a ticket is paid for by ISIC card having sufficient credit.
Only daily students of up to second level university education are entitled to a discount. No discounts are provided for students of third level university education and external students even if younger than 26 years.
Based on the ISIC card, students get the discount of 50% of the normal fare on regional services, and 40-50 % of the normal fare on other domestic services.
ISIC cards and other documents issued by a school and provided only with validation stamps for a particular school year do not prove the entitlement of a student to a discount.
Can ISIC card be also used by foreign students who come to Slovakia as tourists?
They cannot, because their ISIC cards do not include the electronically activated transport section and these cards thus cannot be read by ticket machines in our buses. Such students would have to ask the carrier to issue a Bus Travel Card or SAD card. These can be issued based on a letter of confirmation from school and/or an ISIC card. A photograph would be also needed and the validity would be one particular school year expiring on August 31. This also applies to Slovak students studying abroad whose studies are considered as equivalent to studies in schools established in the Slovak Republic.
If I buy a ticket for a domestic service from a bus driver, and at that very moment comes another bus I would rather travel with, can I just return the ticket and get the money back?
Passengers get on a bus and buy tickets from a driver only a few minutes prior to departure. It is assumed that at that very moment a passenger is already decided about which bus or service to take. In such a case no refund can be made and the ticket machine does not even allow drivers to do so. A driver can cancel a ticket but just in the event of a mistake made by the passeneger or the driver. This cancellation must be however done in one minute and only if no other tickets have been issued in the meantime.
Of course, the other thing is if a passenger buys a ticket in advance and wants to change it or cancel it in advance. All the conditions for a refund are available on each of such tickets. On domestic services, a ticket can be usually cancelled up to 30 minutes prior to departure for a cancellation fee of 20,- SKK.
