What is BID?

In the Bratislava Region, passengers may also use the Integrated travel system of the Bratislava Region (Integrovaný dopravný systém Bratislavského kraja - IDS BK).This enables them to travel with more transportation types with one pre-paid travel ticket (PCL) - so called električenka. The project covers the carriers Slovak Lines (outskirt coaches), Dopravný podnik Bratislava (public transport in Bratislava) and Železničná spoločnosť Slovensko (trains of the Os and REX category).

On the 1st of June 2013, phase I for the territory of Bratislava and Záhorie (municipalities of the Malacky District) was put into service. This phase enables the use of pre-paid travel tickets with the validity of 30, 90 or 365 days.

In next phases, IDS BK will be extended to the entire territory of the Bratislava Self-governing Region and the extension to the Trnava Self-governing Region and municipalities in Austria and Hungary situated near the borders is also being considered. In future, traveling will be also possible with single tickets.

Easier and more comfortable traveling for efficient prices should make public transport more attractive in order for people to use their personal cars less and save the environment.
